In December 2020, the gastronomic trade magazine GVManager honored the team at Mensa Finkenau as one of the most outstandingly motivated large-scale gastronomic teams.

At the beginning of December, the six-member jury of experts from GVMagazin reached its verdict on the most outstanding GV team of 2020. In the student catering category, the eleven-member team from our Mensa Finkenau with operations manager Alexander Schollenberger came out on top.

The following criteria played a role in the assessment: motivation, creativity, team spirit, appreciation and service concept.

Jürgen Allemeyer, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Hamburg:

"With irrepressible team spirit and great commitment to students and guests, the team of the Mensa Finkenau has earned a very special award: they were chosen by the GV MANAGER as "Team of the Year 2020." Due to the circumstances, the award ceremony last Thursday did not turn out as the team deserved. However, I was at least able to present the award personally to our operations manager and team captain Alexander Schollenberger and thank him and his team for the great commitment they are showing, especially now in these challenging times.

After closing, reopening and closing again, the motivation and anticipation of the guests they hope to welcome back soon is still great."
