Hamburg Corona Emergency Loan
for students

Students at Hamburg universities who demonstrably found themselves in a financial emergency due to the Corona pandemic were able to apply for an interest-free Hamburg Corona Emergency Loan of a maximum of 400 euros per month for the months of April to June and October to November 2020 - a joint initiative of the Behörde für Wissenschaft, Forschung, Gleichstellung und Bezirke (BWFGB) and the Studierendenwerk Hamburg.

During the other months of the pandemic, students had the option of receiving a monthly Interim financial aid upon application (until September 2021), which was granted from federal funds.

Notes on repayment of the Hamburg Coronan Emergency Loan:
If you have received one or more Corona emergency loans, you have accepted the repayment conditions with the loan agreement. The repayment in instalments was agreed in the contract. The monthly instalments amount to 50,00 euros, spread over eight months - starting 12 months after the end of the month for which the loan was paid. The repayment instalments are to be transferred to the Studierendenwerk Hamburg on the 3rd working day of each month:

You can apply for a deferment agreement. The prerequisite for this, according to § 62 of the Landeshaushaltsordnung, is that it can be proven

that the payment represents a considerable hardship for you, i.e. that you are temporarily in serious payment difficulties due to your financial circumstances or would get into such difficulties in the case of collection.
The claim is not endangered by a deferral.
