The Hagenbeckstraße residential complex was built in 1961 in a traditional residential style in a large garden setting. In 1995, one floor was added to the complex. In 2010/11, the complex underwent a complete energy renovation and the rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and common areas were thoroughly modernized.
The facility has a total of 230 places, of which 211 are furnished and 19 unfurnished. 204 rooms are corridor communities, 26 places are in apartments with pantry and private shower bath. In each corridor live 9 - 16 students who share the modernized sanitary facilities and a fully equipped kitchen with common room. All rooms have internet, telephone and cable TV connection.
The house has two bicycle cellars and a bicycle repair shop. Washing machines and dryers (coin-operated) are located on each floor. Recreational rooms such as a music room, library, fitness room, sewing room, billiards and foosball room, a bar and the large garden with barbecue areas offer many recreational opportunities.
The residential complex is 500 m from the Lutterothstraße subway station (U2). Good shopping opportunities are offered by the Osterstraße as well as the weekly market in the Methfesselstraße. Furthermore, a squash center, tennis court, sports center, ice rink and the Hagenbeck zoo are in the immediate vicinity.
The monthly rent ranges from € 306 to € 409 including flat-rate utilities. There are also some large furnished and unfurnished rooms as well as self-contained apartments. The rent includes utilities, such as heating, water, electricity, etc., as well as the cost of internet access and cable TV connection.
