From 19.10.2015, we will replace our present concept, “Campus-Vital” with “mensaVital.” Under the brand mensaVital, we offer fresh, innovative meals which are prepared vitamin rich and low in fat – with natural ingredients and no flavour enhancers. Fresh herbs ensure an even more aromatic flavour experience. Carefully crafted and nutritionally balanced recipes produce a creative, wholesome menu.

Finkenau cafeteria and café open!

The Finkenau art and media campus now even more attractive with a cafeteria and café.

Guests can enjoy a modern, 220-seat cafeteria with pleasant design. It is estimated some 700 meals will be served here every day. With a seating capacity of approximately 100, the café not only boasts a modern ambiance, but also a direct view of the Eilbekkanal and a large terrace for relaxing and meeting with classmates. The cafeteria’s interior courtyard also enables outdoor lunching in summer.

Cafeteria manager Alexander Schollenberger and his team of 13 offer a wide variety every day – from meat, vegetarian and sometimes even vegan dishes to a pasta and salad bar and fresh pizza. The café supplements this with sweet and savoury snacks, great specialty coffees and much more, which are also available to go.

Michael Gradtke – GV-Manager of the year 2014

Head of university dining at the Studierendenwerk Hamburg, Mr Michael Gradtke, has been named “GV-Manager of the year 2014”.

Specialist magazine “GV-Manager” has been awarding this distinction to managers of large-scale dining and communal catering (Großgastronomie und Gemeinschaftsverpflegung, GV) since 2009. A panel of industry experts and editorial staff rated communal catering managers based on various criteria, including career, pioneering spirit and personnel policy.

The Studierendenwerk Hamburg have already won the "Frankfurter Preis" industry Oscar awarded by specialist magazine GV-Praxis in 2008.

It will soon also be possible to do so using EC cards at the machines in the foyer.

Effective January 2015, the HCU cafeteria offers a guest price. Students and employees continue to pay the student/employee prices.

Vegetarian and vegan dishes

As per your requests, we have expanded the vegetarian and vegan options at the cafeterias, picking up on current market trends and revamping our cafeteria menus for you.
We want to impress you with the quality of the food, not by the classifications – in other words, we want our vegetarian cuisine to appeal to all customers, both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Our menu options are clearly marked.

Take me home!

The Campus cafeteria even provides fresh food from its pasta bar and wok-fried dishes as takeaway options! This means you can transport the meals securely in microwavable boxes and enjoy them at home.

Every Wednesday - the “KlimaTeller” at our cafeterias

“Climate day” now brings you the Klimateller.

All our cafeterias will be offering the “Klimateller” starting 19/10. As such, it won’t just be on Wednesdays that climate-friendly dishes will be specially marked; all meals meeting the GreenFlux e.V. criteria will instead now bear the Klimateller symbol.

These dishes are climate-friendly, and do not contain any ingredients whose production causes high greenhouse gas emissions, such as beef or pork.

At www.klimateller.de, you will find the KlimaTeller counter, which shows the CO2 equivalents saved as a result of the KlimaTeller.
